1. Hassan Diab Support Event, Ottawa, March 26, 2:30 pm
You are invited to an event for Dr. Hassan Diab, to meet him in person and show your support. Hassan faces an unfair in absentia trial, currently set to commence on April 3, 2023. This is despite the fact that French investigative judges previously dismissed the case against him due to overwhelming evidence of his innocence. Unbelievably, Hassan is in grave danger of being wrongfully convicted, and thus extradited from Canada to France a second time!

2. Amnesty International Calls on France to Drop the Case against Hassan Diab
“Amnesty International is calling on the French Public Prosecutor for Anti-Terrorism to drop the groundless charges against Dr. Hassan Diab, more than 14 years since the effort began to convict him for the bomb attack at the rue Copernic synagogue in Paris on 3 October 1980 which killed four people and injured more than 40 others.
Amnesty International continues to call for the individuals responsible for this horrific antisemitic attack to be brought to justice. Justice does not, however, come by pursuing a man against whom both the Canadian and French justice systems have already found there to be a lack of credible evidence.”

3. Toronto Star: How the Hassan Diab Affair Undressed Canada’s Extradition Law
“Prominent lawyers and members of the legal profession have been petitioning for a change to Canada’s Extradition Act for some years. Finally, in early February, their plea for reform was heard by MPs of the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights…
The Diab file makes clear that Canada was willing to sacrifice its own citizen at the altar of mutual state interests. Allowing shoddy reports, baseless accusations, and deceitful statements about Diab to go unchallenged, it dubbed him a terrorist, deprived him of an opportunity for self-defence, and in the same breath forgave France for its countless transgressions and, not least, for withholding exculpatory evidence…
Scandalized, Canadians from coast to coast are demanding that Canada stand up to France and categorically reject a second extradition for the innocent Hassan Diab.”

4. Sign the Petition to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
Petition in English
Pétition en français
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau must honor his words from June 2018 and refuse any future request from France for the extradition of Hassan Diab. Your support is vital to protecting the rights of people in Canada against unjust prosecution and violation of fundamental rights.
We would like to reach at least 10,000 signatures on the petition before delivering it to PM Trudeau. Please sign the petition, if you haven’t done so already, and share it with at least 5 people you know. We need a groundswell of support to protect Hassan from a second wrongful extradition!
Thank you for your continued support!
