WRITE to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, Mr. David Lametti, calling for a thorough and independent public inquiry into Hassan’s case.
CBC News revealed that the Canadian Department of Justice played a role in advancing Hassan’s extradition to France when the case against him was falling apart. Exculpatory fingerprint analysis that could have helped clear Dr. Diab was never shared with the defence or with the Canadian extradition judge. Canada’s flawed extradition law failed to protect a Canadian citizen from prolonged injustice.
We need to press for a thorough and independent public inquiry into Hassan’s case, so no other Canadian would go through what Hassan had to go through. An internal review by the Department of Justice is not enough.
Please write to Mr. David Lametti calling upon him to launch an independent public inquiry. Copy Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ms. Chrystia Freeland (Minister of Foreign Affairs), as well as your member of Parliament on your correspondence.

DONATE to Hassan’s legal defence in France. Your donation will help provide an innocent man with the means to defend himself. The French prosecutor has appealed Hassan’s release decision. The outcome remains uncertain, and we’re not completely out of the woods yet. For details about how to donate, please visit:
